How do I get to Queens from LaGuardia airport?
Q. Is there a shuttle service at the airport? What can I expect to pay for a cab to Queens? Thanks! Sorry... this is where I'll be staying: 3805 Hunters Point Avenue, Long Island City

A. LGA is in Queens. There is a shuttle service but then you have to transfer this and that... Getting a cab would be much easier and faster. LIC isn't that far from LaGuardia so you can expect something like about $15-$20

What are the best neighborhoods in queens and brooklyn?
Q. Im planning on getting my first apartmet within a year, and Im probably going to end up getting one in either queens or brooklyn becuase I want to be near the city. Can anyone tell me what neighborhoods in these areas would be the best in terms of safety mainly , but also anything else that might be important?

A. My favorite place in queens is forest hills, nice shopping area (austin st.), safe and it's only an E train ride away to the city. My favorite place in Brooklyn is Park Slope. It's safe and there are beautiful town houses. Another nice area of queens is sunnyside, fairly reasonable pricing too. Hope that helps.

What were the roles of Queens in 16 century europe? Was their job solely to stand by the ruling King?
Q. I'm researching and can only come up with info about Queen Elizabeth. I need to compare roles of queens, in hopes of finding that they simply stood in agreement with their husbands. What would be some credible online sources that I could use for research? Was this in order to leave the power in the hands of the King so as not to create disagreement? Or was it simply the result of the image of women during that time? I'm just trying to justify Queen Gertrude's (Hamlet) seeming indifference towards Hamlet's feelings about hasty marriage as well as her compliance with Claudius' decisions.

A. Their job was to act as a bargaining item in treaties and breed male children to be the next king. England was the first and for a long time the only European nation to allow a woman to be the sole monarch. Hope this helps:

What allows a Queens Guard on guard duty ion London attack a member of the public?
Q. Examples I am keen to learn the answers to, are: If I stamped on the foot of a Queens Guard on duty, what can he do about it? If I were to flick a Queens Guard's cheek, what can he do about it? What are the rules of engagement that might allow a Queens Guard to drawer his weapon? (The only reason I ask is that I have been unable to correctly word a search to get any material or examples back. Please help.) I have the greatest of respect for my Monarchy and the highly regarded and trained Queens Guards who protect and guard my Monarchy so well. A. The guard is governed by the rules of engagement which is a comprehensive list of events which would allow him to use "reasonable" force or even shoot you. he is also a citizen and fully entitled to defend himself, so if you were to get a spank from one of these guys you would no doubt deserve it. I would advise against winding a guard up because the consequences might sting a little.

How do you deal with drama queens in the work place?
Q. I'm so frustrated with my job. There are so many miscommunications and no one wants to discuss things with each other so we're constantly being dragged into meetings to discuss hurt feelings or unravel gossip. What's most disappointing is that all of this drama involves women - the men are never involved. I just want to do my job, but if I'm quiet and keep to myself, then people's feelings get hurt, because I'm not being social. If I'm social, then I risk being pulled into the middle of 'she said, she said' and have to sit in meetings and defend myself. I was sick and on cold medicine and someone told my boss that they had a problem because I wasn't chatty that day - I'm not kidding. This is NUTS! This is so frustrating and it's… [cont.]

A. OMG. Your coworkers are nuts. I will say this, though, I understand from personal experience. My advice is this, it is better to be thought of as not social, than to be pulled into the middle of their neverending soap opera. And above all, don't listen to, participate in, comment on, or overhear accidentally any of the gossip going on. If you accidentally overhear, pretend like you didn't hear it. Then in the meeting where everyone is trying to unravel the gossip, say, "I don't know. I haven't heard anything about it." My experience is that this is the best way. If you have not joined in any conversations or commented on the gossip, no one can prove that you did or did not hear anything.

How do you decide if it is a good idea to exchange queens when playing chess?
Q. When the other player puts his queen out there in a position to exchange queens, how do you decide? I know..."it depends". But is there a rule of thumb? For example, if you are behind in pieces, is it better to decline the exchange, and if you are ahead, then accept the exchange?
Asked by Tim D - Mon Feb 22 21:22:16 2010 - - 5 Answers - 0 Comments
A. Hello; The only criteria for making any move in chess is "Will it lead to a better position ...". There are those messy openings where exchanging queens cause one player to lose the ability to castle, castling being a very important manoeuvre in chess these exchanges are usually avoided. It isn't always about material, it is about how much better off you are when the exchange(s) are made. So rules of thumb ... I like the other answers a lot, particularly the one regarding R. Fine. There is a human element in chess though, and I would point that inexperienced players relay on the queen more than other pieces so exchanging Queens puts them at a tremendous disadvantage. They really do say to themselves "... I lost my Queen, now… [cont.]

How long does it take to drive from Queens to Manhattan?
Q. Which place in Queens would be best to live in for those working in the Metropolitan Museum of Art? What about the best places in Queens for those working in Columbia University?

A. Unless you are getting paid for the "privilege ", you really don't want to drive into Manhattan on a regular basis. In your situation Astoria is perfect because you can take the M-60 bus to Columbia and if you transfer enroute to a bus or a subway the Museum is really easy to get to also. The M-60 runs from Laguardia to Columbia and has one stop in Queens on Astoria Blvd & 31 St . The N& R subways are right above you In addition also on 31st St a couple of blocks south of the subway stop is a great Greek grocery store -Titan Foods where one can buy all sorts of great ingredients.

It's done all the time, but sometimes they limit towels, glasses, etc. for the number of people assigned. Two could be 'visiting' for the day or night I guess, if questioned. Not sure I would all walk in together if that's your plan.. ;)

A. Well, Arthur, assuming he is real (and there is loads of debate about that!) lived long before castles, and knights, and all of that. He was most likely a Romano-Celt warlord, who pioneered the use of horses in battle, which led to successes against foot soldiers. He also fought AGAINST the people that would become the English! A. When relating to Cats it is believed to have come from the old British words queen & quean which meant wife or woman. It refers more to a breeding female but is often used for any female cat! All female cats behave like queens and I'm sure in their minds it's exactly how they feel! My 4 year old female not only rules the humans she rules the much bigger male and the 10 times bigger dog!
